Abstract
Inflammatory myofibroblastic tumors are rare and essentially benign mesenchymal tumors. However, their malignant potential cannot be excluded. Their close resemblance to uterine fibroids probably leads to underdiagnosis of the uterine variety. The diagnosis can be confirmed only by expression of the anaplastic lymphoma kinase protein. This article describes the case of a patient with an endouterine tumor which was enucleated during caesarean section and reviews the literature on the subject.
